- E.W. Pfeiffer. Renal anatomy of
desert adapted + non desert rodents.
Considered the anatomy of
kidneys of Dipodomys + Aplodontia
as examples of the two types.
Kidney sections of both were
prepared for study of the number
of glomeruli per unit of tissue
+ the relative proportions of
Medullary + cortical tissue. In
this respect Dipodomys [underlined] had very few
glomeruli + a medullary
area extending even out of
the pelvis of the kidney with
extremely long Henle's loops.
Aplodontia had many
glomeruli + a broad cortical
area. Henle's loops studied by
maceration of kidney pieces for 31 day
in conc [concentrated] HCL [hydrochloric acid] + then teasing[?]
