- July 23. - 26. [1939]
We collected at Ormidale Harbor on the N.E. [Northeast]
portion of Campbell I [Island] from July 23-26. The
Island surrounding the harbor is for the msot part
low lying and comparatively damp. Here
we collected Shrews. Peromyscus, Sciurus,
and Synaptomys. Also [word crossed out] Daily we saw
small Black [Harbour?] Porpoise in the harbor but in spite
of every possible effort on our part were unsuccessful
in obtaining any specimens. Deer signs were
plentiful on the beaches but for the most part
birds were scarce, with the exception of Cross-
bills which I strongly suspect of breeding
July 26-29. [1939]
We anchored in Dundivan Inlet Horsefall [Horsfall]
Island; from which we trapped Horsefall [Horsfall] +
Dufferin Isl [Island]. Birds on the whole were
scarce although I saw what I suspect was
a Pigeon Hawk pursuing a flock of
crossbills. I collected a Red Backed mouse
in a small slach [slash] left by hand loggers
we found Peromyscus not common +
had difficulty in getting a good series
of adults. Shrews are numerous.
July 30 + 31. [1939] Spent at Bella Bella
