July 13 (con'd [continued]) one yg. [young] of another species in her brood, which
was mallard-like (not suggesting it was, but that
type). This was yellower than the rest, with a
dark eyeline. An anxious G.w. [Green-winged] Teal [female symbol] was
there; it may have been hers.
July 17. On little Anahim, 10 small downy Baldpate
July 21 Dean River: 6 small yg. [young] in brood.
July 23 Little Anahim - brood of 4+ yg. [young]
from no. [number] of curious [female symbol]'s seen, this species
is commonest marsh duck breeding (perhaps
biased criterion). Early spring counts tend to
substantiate.
2 lone [female symbol]'s seen.
July 25. Shown nest, in bare floored pinery, far from water.
Two eggs in nest contained dead yg. [young] Six eggs
had hatched
