- Felis concolor [underlined]
Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] May 15, 1946
At the summit of the big hill on
the Devona road at 1:30 in the
afternoon we surprised a lion
on the road. It was apparently
stalking a [male symbol] deer + was
within 20 yards of it. The
lion watched us for a moment
before whirling + making off toward
the rim of the hill. We managed
to shoot it + found it to be
an adult female.
