  • Translated transcription: At dawn, high up between the night clouds, the Dísir come into sight. Stricken, they are seen to bend over the unspeakable frights of the battlefield below them. It is as if they seek someone among the dead, a youngster, perhaps, whom they have protected through life’s trials; perhaps they stood over his cradle with the Norns. But here they had no power. The vision is over, the clouds close again and the immortal Dísir climb once more from the horror of the battlefield to the bright halls of Fólkvangr.
