Winter Range:- As far up some years,
as Sunwapta Falls

Saw one coyote at Devona, 1 set of
fresh tracks on trail from Miette
2 scats rabbit
1 " [scat] grass.
Jasper May 11/45. [1945]
Along the trail to Maligne Lake saw
tracks of two coyotes. They travelled
almost all the way from Medicine
Lake + apparently constituted the only
ones in the area.
Food:- 3 scats deer
3 " [scats] elk
1 " [scat] moose.
Saw remains of one deer believed to
have been killed by coyote
One winter on the Cairn Macdonald
found where 5 coyotes had run a
ewe sheep down his snowshoe
trail + out onto the creek ice. There
the sheep had broken through +
been killed + completely eaten in
one night.
