- Almost everything is hunted + there
are many excellent + detailed hunting
manuals.
Moose are either stalked or run
with dogs - a grey, mat [word crossed out] husky type
is used. Other dogs are used for roe,
Beagles for rabbit, terriers for badger
etc [etcetera]. Duck + goose kill is small.
Pheasants are liberated in large numbers
mostly privately. Shooting is either both
sexes or cocks only depending upon
state of the population. Usually cocks
only following a severe winter kill.
There is virtually no fur trapping
except for a very little in the far
north. The most important fur animal
is American mink gone feral.
Uppsala Sept [September] 24
I have had a most interesting day seeing
the historical parts of Uppsala. The magnificent
cathedral started in 1200 +/- + finished in 1450 is
particularly impressive. It was begun when there
were only 5000 people in Stokhol [crossed out] Uppsala. In it are
many very ornate tombs in small chapels but
the ones that impressed me most was that
of Gustav I + the small silver gilt coffin
of Eric the 1st who was mured [murdered?] here in 1100.
