- June 24/36
it is certain I could not find any
wrens to matter how hard
I hunted. Saw one chat in the
sanctuary but did not attempt
to get it. In evening heard
a poor will + Horned Owl. A
single pair of Duck Hawks nesting
on cliff at S [south] end of Dog Lake.
June 25: Okanagan Falls.
Up at 5:30 as usual. Went
into White Lake + in the
broiling sun hunted Sage
thrashers + Brewers Sparrows,
getting ad [adult] [male symbol] + [female symbol] + 2 yng [young] of the
former 4 [male symbol] + 1 [female symbol] of the latter.
Brewers sparrows extremely abundant
just as common as the Vespers.
Also took a sharp tailed Grouse
out of a clump of long spined
hawthorn.
The sage thrashers are just
beginning the second nests,
Mr. [S.J.] Darcos [Darcus] last sunday finding
3 thrashers nests with eggs +
7 Brewer's sp.[sparrows] nests " " [with eggs]
in one day in the same
territory I was hunting.
In Evening took 2 Rock Wrens
along E. [East] Road on Dog Lake about
2 miles from here.
