Cornus [underlined], a Prunus [underlined], three Sheph [words crossed out] Quite a lot of Shepherdia, some Symphoricarpos, both junipers [underlined]. The cornus is moderately abundant in the coulees in more moist areas + is associated with a lone growing willow + Shepherdia. There are numerous young aspens of all ages. A few shrubby Cinquefoil on the drier slopes. Ribes [underlined] not common. Bear berry is the dominant plant over all the slopes except right at lake level. The 3 vetch- like plants are abundant along with 3 or 4 grasses. Lower down grass becomes dominant + there is an admixture of sage. The cornus is browsed to an average of 30% + is in good condition with plenty of flower. Willow is browsed 20 to 25%. Cherry 10%. Indications of heavier browsing on cornus [underlined] prior to 1939 Rose abundant at lower elevations particularly in moist spots. Aspen, rose, shepherdia, sage, bearberry, poplar show no twig browsing. The only species browsed are those mentioned above. The 3 vetch-like plants are favored food at present.
