- July 6, 1936 10 Mile Lake, Quesnel, B.C. [British Columbia]
Hunted s. [south] shore of Lake in
morning. Skinned + in afternoon
went to N. [North] end of lake. S. [South] end
is bulrushes, then sedges, then
a belt of willows 20-25 ft [feet] high
+ 15 yards broad, back of this
is a piece of semi cleared
meadowland + the cottonwood
aspen - fir + spruce. Red wing
blackbirds, Holboll [Holboell's] Grebes, Mallard
+ Blue winged Teal are nesting or
have their broods in the rushes.
In the sedges western yellowthroat
+ snipe are nesting. In
the willows Brewers Blackbird
Wright's? flycatcher, Grinnell
water thrush, redstart, Red-
eyed vireo + Macgillivray [MacGillivray] Warbler
are nesting + chickadees
In the meadow chipping sparrows
+ savannah sparrows, and a pair
of Kildeer [Killdeer] + a pair of Juncos.
In the woods the usual run
of local warblers.
Took an adult Tennessee Warbler
it has a loud very distinctive
song
At the N [North] end of the lake is a
short bit of gravel + sand
beach. Here a pair of spotted
