[Frank] Wells tells me that he once followed
a young [female symbol] lion (125 lbs [pounds]) for 4
days + in that time it had made
9 kills the last one a cow elk.
Reports that in his experience
old lions kill less frequently than
the young ones + clean up the kills
Also finds that in severe cold
they dont move much.

[Frank] Wells saw tracks of perhaps 2 lions
along the Athabasca valley + of another
up near Dorothy Lake.
Jasper. June 12/44 [1944]
On June 10 Frank Burstrom shot
a [male symbol] cougar - meas [measurement] of skinned
carcase [carcass] 6' [foot] 9" [inches], 31" [inches]
Food:- Nothing but digested meat +
quantities of tapeworm in digestive
tract.

Tracks on the trail near Beaver Lake.
Field, B.C. Aug. [August] 3/44. [1944]
Last fall Tocher saw 2 Mt [mountain] lion cross
the road just above his house + head
along up the Ottertail
Today examined a goat apparently killed
by cougar - scratches on tree.
