nearby - a [female symbol], the spike + a fawn?
3rd [third] buck joined then.
At 9:15 something alarmed the
two bucks, the bedded one jumped
to his feet + both looked down
hill for 3-4 minutes, then began
feeding N. [north] + uphill.
Att 5 flicked their tails
energetically every few seconds,
this giving conspicuous white
flashes.
At 10 o'clock large fork feeding
up hill on Bald Mt [Mountain]. 2 does + fawn
feeding below him. Buck [illegible word]
switches tail, 3 other does feed into
view at 10:20 + continue feeding
until 11 when one by one they
bed down except doe + fawn +
big buck. At 11:50 big buck
moves over crest of hill traveling
at a trot. Doe + fawn are
still feeding + have moved about
150 yards in two hours.
While feeding the old doe sets
the course + the young fellow
stays near by - + at least
follows her in a general way.
Watched old buck gently rubbing
antlers + neck + head in some brush.
