Cowichan Lake, May 6. Sexes. thirty yards of them. The two that were feeding when first observed fed along the hill keeping watch below them. I sat in full license 40 yards away + not until they winded me did they suspect my presence. An eddy carried them my scent after 5 minutes or so + they immediately began looking for the danger - but continued to look down hill [underlined] + down [underlined] wind as if they did not connect the warning with direction of warning. When moving off however they moved downwind. [underlined]
