over Meadow Creek. Took 2
M. [Microtus] mordax, 2 juv [juvenile] + 1 ad [adult] short
tailed vole alon [along] Meadow Cr [Creek].
Cowbirds, warbling vireo, yellowthroat [underlined]
+ Western Tanager [underlined] back. House
Wrens [underlined] common.
May 17 [1930]
Caught 2 [male symbol] Zapus in same
area as yesterday, lifted most
of the traps + reset on Smith's
Ranch. Some vole + muskrat
sign noted along ditches there
groundsquirrels very common.
Took Calliope Hummer [Hummingbird], [female symbol] Cooper [underlined]
Hawk, + Yellowthroat. Saw Fox [underlined]
Sparrow. [underlined]
May 18 [1930].
Went up to Smith's ranch.
I took 2 voles + 2 Jumping mice
Mr [Hamilton Mack] Laing got 3 large voles (short tail)
In afternoon set 2 badger
traps on Smith place; Mr [Hamilton Mack] Laing
took two Western Bluebirds [underlined]
