Census:- On Old Fort.
3 [male symbol] ad. [adult] 8 ewes (2 yearlings).
At Quarry - mile 3
7 ad [adult] [male symbol] 1-5 yr [year] [male symbol] 2-4 yr [year] [male symbol], 1-3 yr [year] [male symbol]
14 ewes. 7 lambs. No yearlings of either sex.
+ no 2 yr [year] [male symbol]'s. This group includes
6 [male symbol] [crossed out] is apparently a different one to that
seen the other day. One of the ad [adult] rams
is very old + lame in the right fore
foot - there were no yearlings in this
group + more lambs. These were all
in one group as were those on
Old Fort. Rams mixed right in with
the rest.
Breeding - In each bunch there was
one ewe coming into heat. In this
Old fort flock two rams were following
her periodically, she urinated frequently
but would not stand for them.
In the 4 mile flock 5 rams were
following one ewe. They were
not running her, merely following
+ inviting coitus with the customary
gesture - First one ram + then
another would try but without
response. There was no combat
between the rams.
