Bowl of quatre foliated shape with ring handles topped by butterflies. The interior is decorated with flower sprigs and a butterfly in relief. The entire bowl, including the ring handles, was carved from one piece of jade.

This ornamental collar may have been worn on birthdays or other important occasions. The dec�orations include kingfisher bird feathers (feicui) on gilt metal plaques and a variety of precious stones carved into delightful designs of flowers, vases and animals. The applique includes jade, amber, tur�quoise, malachite, crystal, pearls and coral. At the back is a silver ornament with the character shou (longevity) in white jade.
XXXI Incense Burner with Cover

The shape of this vessel derives from the ancient bronze ding cauldrons of the Shang and Zhou. It stands on three animal paw-shaped legs surmoun�ted by animal masks in high relief; the handles with loose hanging rings are decorated with dragon heads. The lid has four loose hanging rings, the loops are decorated with fungus or ruyi heads; the knob is a coiling dragon in openwork.

Angular plaque with indented notches at the straight bottom and conical drilled holes at each side of the top. This plaque shows similarities to the plaques of the Liangzhu culture in Jiangsu and Zhejiang (third Millennium B.C.)
2 Chisel

The chisel is polished smooth and glossy; the sides of the blade widen slightly towards the cutting edge; the thickness diminishes gradually toward the edge. There is a conical hole towards the straight butt.
3 Axe
green jade with white clouding, length 17 cm Neolithic

This axe blade which is biconvex in section, is smoothly polished; the sides widen slightly towards the bevelled cutting edge, which is damaged; there are two perforations; the large conical hole con�tains traces of cinnabar; the smaller one, closer to the unfinished butt, is biconical.

Axe with flattish, biconvex body with straight, slightly tapering sides; large conical drilled hole near roun�ded butt; on reverse side deep drilling scar over�lapping perforation, shows use of tubular drill; the bevelled edge is damaged; surface smoothly pol�ished.

Undecorated bi-disc with uneven perimeter; the conical perforation not centred; the perimeter and perforation are sharp edged; surface polished and slightly pitted.

Plain ring of uneven width with uneven edge rim; sawing scars on surface which has low polish.
