  • Heron. Chatfield. I. [Island] August 6.[1939] Mrs [Thomas T.] McCabe [Elinor McCabe] collected a fine adult specimen. St [Saint] John Har. [Harbour] Bardswells [Group]. August 7-10.[1939] Herons were observed very occasionally here. N. [North] end of Banks Island. August. 17-20.[1939] Herons seem to be more abundant here on the north end of Banks Island than anywhere that we have been north of Calvert Island. On the 19th I observed a flock of Nine birds, and on every other day that we stayed here we saw herons. They were very wary + no specimens were procured.
