Today dawned brilliantly clear + that, with the
retreat of my cold made a significant improvement
upon my outlook.
I had an appointment with Mr Bertil
Haglund. Jagermeister of Svenska Jagarforbundet
11 Buergerjarlsgatan, Stockholm. at 11 o'clock +
used the time before then to explore the
town a bit. I much admire the Stadshus
+ tried to get a photograph of it. Unfortunately
a Railroad bridge littered with "Engang forbudt"
signs seemed to be the only possible vantage
point. I went into several shops + looked
at crystal, pottery, etc [etcetera]. The taste in pottery
is not nearly as fine as that in Denmark.
The crystal is some of it most beautiful
but very expensive. Much of the most interesting
crystal is, I find, made in Finland I may
be mistaken but gain the impression that
Swedish crystal runs to square lines +
beautiful engraving, while the Finnish
feature round or curved pieces with
elaborate use of color or simple engraved
lines in pattern. There are some extraordinary
elaborate clocks to be seen + not antiques.
