- European Starling
Vernon: nesting at Golf Club House
June 1951.
Vanderhoof. Forestry Student L. Hartman
of Vanderhoof tells me that at the
end of May 1953 there were 6
Starlings at his home. 2 of them
were going in + out of a woodpecker
nest cavity. He shot one of these.
+ has it mounted.
Vancouver. January 30/55 [1953]
Tremendous flights of starlings have
been coming to roost in the conifers
along 14th Ave in the 19 hundred block.
Total must be about 8-10 thousand
I note that the Vic. Nat. [Victorian Naturalist] mentions 359
seen on their Christmas census.
Last summer [Charles J.] Guiguet took a
breeding bird in Saanich, I took one
at Lac du Bois + saw others at 108
mile + 150 mile on the Cariboo Highway
Vancouver, April 5/55 [1955]
European Starlings left 14th Ave [Avenue] roost on April
2 + 3.
