- Western Sandpiper.
Kwakshua, Calvert Island. July 13, 1939
Flocks of these sandpipers
passing overhead almost
continuously. None of the
flocks were large - 8-30 individuals
in most of them. A larger
flock was seen feeding
in a muddy bay off the
north passage.
Fitzhugh Sound. July 15, 1939.
At least ten small flocks
of these birds passed us
heading south down mid
channel. Fly low over the
water in loose flocks
almost directly in the centre
of the sound.
Of six birds taken none have
unmistakable signs of having
bred so it may be that these
flocks are composed of non
breeders or year old young
Burnaby Lake. May 27, 1942
Three birds seen along Burnet Creek
just below the dam.
Boundary Bay. April 7, 1948
Flocks of 10 to 50.
