from "Western Seas" ident. [identification] as
marmorea Fabr. [Fabricus], which all
have the "tent" marks, most
prominently on valve 1 + have
finely punctate sculpture
whereas the Sitka specimens
are smoothe [smooth].
Tonicella rubra Linn.
A small species (11mm [millimeters]). 6 spec [specimens]
in BM [British Museum] examined, from Britain
girdle with strong scales , I doubt
they are Tonicella. One specimen
is OK., from Cumming Coll. [Collection]
General color pinkish buff, a pale
band 1/4 total width. Slight beak,
no pattern. Slightly [illegible word], projecting
ridges on post [posterior] edges of intermediate
valves. Terminal valve turned
down at rt [right] angles from mucra
shape arched. This may have
been the species I selected for description
in Copenhagen.
