  • Journal. Blue Creek. May 27, 1944 Very hot day, rivers rising very fast. In morning we went along the north side of Snake Indian Lakes + built a raft. Our purpose was to retrieve the young moose we saw drown yesterday. We found it all right + photographed it. In the meantime we saw a medium sized silver tip grizzly come to the lake for a drink _ later found its kill - a 2 year old [male symbol] moose. In the evening we waited near the kill from 7:30 until just after 10 o'clock. but nothing came to it. Blue Creek. May 28, 1944. Mild with heavy rain showers from mid-afternoon on into the evening. Rivers still high - we had intended going up to Topaz today but the upper ford will be too dangerous under present conditions. We hiked all round first Snake Indian lake before the rain got too bad. Game seen on 27 & 28 Moose 11 Deer 3
