- The afternoon in the local pub (20 minutes)
and driving all over the countryside.
We spent the afternoon down
Westwick lake watching Grebes and
getting sunburned. We baked Tim [Miles Timothy Myres]
a pie for his birthday dinner,
which he failed to appreciate.
Nancy [Mahoney] and I found the dead
[female symbol] surf scoter (note change) referred to
as whitewing on May 14. We hung
it on Tim [Miles Timothy Myres]'s tent door as a
birthday present.
This morning we saw a [male symbol] Redwing
Blackbird chasing 4 [female symbol] and 2 [male symbol]
Yellowheads while his [female symbol] looked on.
We found a robin's nest with
2 eggs at the other end of Sorenson,
and saw our first hummingbird.
After dinner Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] and I walked
down to Goldeneye to check the nests
again, and collect violets. Because
of the water between Sorenson and
Goldeneye, we had to walk
completely around the lake. We
saw a toad on the bridge across
Goldeneye Lake outlet.
