Mr [Kenneth] Racey pulled up a stump +
in it found a phenacomys
nest containing an adult female
+ 2 half grown young. The female
+ one young were killed immediately
the other one died next day.
Spent most of the day skinning
An Indian brought in a juvenile
male skunk.
Aug [August] 8 [1931]. Joyce [Racey] + I went over to the spruce
woods before breakfast on the
way over seeing 2 herons.
The traps held 2 voles, 2 cinereus
shrew + 5 peromyscus only one of
which was fully adult.
Set 4 more traps for weasel.
Alan [Racey] brought in a young male
weasel almost a duplicate of the
last. Skinned all morning.
In the afternoon Mrs Racey, Joyce [Racey]
+ I went several miles down
the river through very dead
jack pine country. Found an
occupied Pack Rat nest in
an outcropping of Rock about
2 1/2 miles down the river on
the N. [North] Shore. On the way
back set 11 phenacomys traps
