- July 19, [1936] Big Eutsuk Lake, B.C. [British Columbia]
Left Surel Creek this morning
+ ran down Eutsuk Lake
to the mouth of Pondosy
Bay. On the way we stopped
at Fred Knowles trapping
cabin in Grell Cove. We
made camp on the N. [North] shore
looking up Pondosy bay.
The timber here was mostly
spruce, with some balsam
(A. [Abies] amabilis) + some Jack Pine.
Quite a lot of old beaver
work in a slough just
back of the Lake shore
Many of the points on
Eutsuk have these sloughs
behind them + without
exception they all showed
signs of having had
beaver on them. Saw
Crossbills, Boh. [Bohemian] Waxwings
+ [male symbol] Harlequin Duck. Set
out 25 traps for mice.
July 20, 1936 - Big Eutsuk Lake.
During the night the
dog collected some more
Porcupine quills, he also put
up a Spruce grouse.
