- Jaeger, Pomarine. July 18 [1939]
We found a band of Pomarine
Jaegers following the Halibut
Boats on the Goose Island Banks
to-day. They did not appear to
harry the Gull + shearwaters as much
as one would expect, but seemed
to feed on the offal of the Halibut
boats rather than what they
stole from the other birds. Apparently
these birds are not as uncommon
as was formerly thought to be
on the coast. We collected five
Specimens myself two + Mr [Thomas T.] McCabe
three. We also saw at least
eight or ten birds which we
were unable to collect.
Camano Sound. July [word crossed out] August 13
Saw one Pomarine Jaeger swoop through
a small band of Gulls that were working on
some feed.
