- Jasper, Alta. [Alberta]
May 5. 1946.
Arrived this afternoon from Vancouver
with brilliant weather all the way.
Am surprised to find the trees
leafing out - a good 3 weeks
earlier than they did so last year.
Got our truck + then made a
run out to our summer home
Dr O.J. Walkers place on Edith
Lake. The we is Joyce [Cowan] Garry [Cowan], Ann [Cowan] + self
+ Bert Pfeiffer. [note inserted later]
May 6, 1946 Jasper, Alta. [Alberta]
Spent the morning purchasing
supplies + getting squared away.
In the afternoon took a rush
down to mile 5 on the E. [East]
road and up the Medicine Lake
road almost to Medicine Lake,
The day was very warm +
no game was to be seen though
everywhere the ground cover
is grazed right to the earth
+ there is much new chawing
on the aspens.
On the way home at 6:10
saw 3 mule deer on the river
just above Maligne Bridge.
