the specimens left over
from yesterday. In the evening
went out to the store + post
office -road very bad.
Set steel trap for skunks.
Aug. [August] 6 [1931]. Weather clear again went
over to the spruce woods in the
early morning - my traps held 2 juv. [juvenile]
red backs, 4 peromyscus, 2 Dusky shrews.
+ 2 cinereus shrews. two of the shrews
were entirely demolished as also
were the two red backs.
The traps on the point were
all under water except one
this held a juv. [juvenile] peromyscus.
Skinned all day - the snares
having taken 4 rabbits two
of which ([male symbol]'s) I made up.
In the evening Joyce [Racey] + I went
over to the Spruce woods to
set some weasel traps
Set out 4 traps + several more
mouse traps. Heard a (bear)
+ saw some fairly fresh bear
sign. On the way home shot
a small brown bat
Aug [August] 7 [1931]. Fine all day. Traps in
the spruce woods held
2 rabbits ([male symbol]'s) 2 shrews + 4
peromyscus. Traps in the
marsh held a vole + 3 shrews
one of which had white
