Aug [August] 13. [1929] Located an old shack that
appeared to be inhabited
by Pack Rats so went
there at 7:30 this evening
Set 5 traps around debris
under floor. While I was
setting the traps I saw
a large rat. I was using
a flashlight + it came
up within 4 ft [feet] of me +
did not appear alarmed.
Set a trap at a spring
beside the remains of a
young grouse.
8 o'clock. Have just shot a
large male pack rat off
the rafters. (174) (no ticks)
9'o clock, caught a white footed
mouse.
10'oclock - haven't heard a sound.
11 " ditto
12 " heard a coyote - nothing stirring
in the shack
