- Harlequin Ducks. August 19. 1939
North end of Banks Island. B.C. [British Columbia]
Off the north end of Banks among the outer Islets
+ in the large kelp patches I found several
flocks of Harlequin in the flightless stage.
They were quite wary + I succeeded in collecting
only three specimens. When chased they would
disappear in a miraculous manner, By diving
and coming up in the big kelp patches where they
were invisible. I found remains of a Harlequin
on a log on a high rock apparently eaten by
a falcon.
