were taken in traps placed
in small clear spaces among
the shrubbery + 1 in a runway
going to a nest under the
shelving end of a log. Two
such nests were examined
both in the same sort of
place, that is under the
shelving end of a log.

The nests were 7 or 8 in. [inches] in
diameter + made of dry grass
+ sedge. This vole did not
seem to follow runways
except in the immediate
vicinity of the nest.

its olfactory sense is poor;
I have frequently sat on

groundhog to come from
