A study of Chinese Voluntary Associations as political machine is presented. Topics discussed are the initial immigration of Chinese and political characters of Chinese sub-groups. There is a comparison of Chinese associations to the present day political machine and a discussion on the associations due to changes in the present day political system.

Concludes that "associations in smaller towns will decline somewhat faster than parallel associations in Vancouver because smaller communities cannot maintain their identity as rigidly and the associations in small towns do not have heavy capital investments as similar association in Vancouver do."
