  • Canis lupus [underlined] Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] May 3/45. [1945] Burt White showed me a heavy wolf snare chewed in two by a wolf. He tells me that the largest part of the elk have moved out of the park + the wolves with them. In November or Dec. [December] Warden [Frank] Wells shot a gray [female symbol]. In December Burstrom found a goat kill near Mud Creek. It was a young animal. Wells reports finding an elk kill on Buffalo Prairie the other day. Jasper. May 4, 1945. [1945] Numbers:- Frank Wells reports that this last winter there was one bunch of 7 ranging from the Whirlpool to his place all winter, he shot one in early December on Lick Creek. Then there were two running together apparently both blacks as 2 blacks were seen together by workmen on the road. On Buffalo Prairie there were either two blacks as above + 3 others or a different group of 5. In mid April 2 blacks were seen on a lower meadow there on two occassions [occasions].
