- Ambystoma (macrodactylum) Salamander Richter Pass May 20/41 [1941] At about the summit of Richter Pass (4800' [feet]) just before the descent to Osoyoos we found a large pond containing many larvae of Ambystoma [underlined]. The sizes of the larvae ranged from 14 to 25 mm. [millimeters], the larger ones having all four limbs. They differed from gracile [underlined] in many respects - diurnal instead of nocturnal; - black, elongated spot in front of eyes; - chunkier build - longer toes. Possibly they are larvae of A. macrodactylum [underlined] [Ambystoma macrodactylum] Specimens were collected: some were preserved + about 6 were sent alive to the Museum to be reared to adults if possible. May 27 [1941] Very small larvae, still with balancers, were collected in stream back water at Mile 14 Camp, Anarchist Mt. [mountain] Kept alive for rearing. May 30/41 [1941] Larvae were found + collected in two ponds, one north + one south of White Lake, west of Okanagan falls. Some were kept for rearing.
