- [James (Jim)] Simpson tells me that goat are much
more abundant on the B.C. [British Columbia] side
where the intermixture of bluffs +
pastures with the generally western
exposure makes the area more
suitable.

Whiteman Cabin. June 15/43 [1943]
Left Bryant Cr. [Creek] Cabin at 11:AM after
the usual hunt for horses, travelled
28 miles +/- to make camp here at 7 P.M.
Intermittent thunderstorms + sunshine -
soaked 4 times during the day.
From Spray Lakes to here the trail
passes through Jack pine + spruce
forests - usually open + with
many acres of birch + willow
meadow along the valley bottom.
Besides the birch + dwarf willow these
meadows support scattered clumps of
cinquefoil. All in all a very poor
