- Nancy [Mahoney] did a huge washing
in the morning, and stayed in
bed in the afternoon (not lazy -
sick) She was OK at dinner time
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] found 23 lead shot pieces in
the dead duck, and then showed me
how to make up the skin. Nancy [Mahoney]
found a Canada Jay in one of the
squirrel traps, so I am doing that
too. Its tail feathers were rather
battered, but otherwise it was
in good condition. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] spent the
afternoon writing unofficial report #2.
Westwick Lake Wednesday, May 18, 1955
Weather: Scattered clouds in the morning,
clear in the afternoon. Windy.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] walked around Sorenson, and
sounded Westwick Lake across the
centre (7 feet at the deepest across
the centre) with the rowboat. Nancy [Mahoney]
and I walked around Sorenson.
The robin has 3 eggs, and the
pintail nest was covered with leaves.
We set the two traps with dried
fruit, for chipmunks. I found
a colour phase in my violets - pale
and dark blue-violet. The bluebird
and the blackbird both have 5 eggs.
The squirrel has two young.
