Oct [October] 11/42 [1942]. Shaw Creek.
Here on July 11, 1942 R. [Rex] S. Hayes saw
the following deer.
From 7 AM to 9 AM. 70 deer + 1 bear.
including 1 d [doe] 2 f. [fawns]
3 ad [adults] 1 f. [fawn]
1 doe - poor shape.
1 doe 1 f. [fawn]
later. 11 sex unknown
1 d [doe] 2 f. [fawns]

Disease At 9:30. A fawn jumped up + ran behind
a stump, when approached it fell
over, kicked for a few minutes
+ died. Appeared to be partially
paralyzed in the hindquarters at
the time of death.
[Rex S.] Hayes examined it closely + found
no abnormality or injury except
that the intestinal contents were
a black sticky [word crossed out] jelly like mass.
