2. Foggy in morning as we came down to Alert
Bay after that fine. Few birds, Short-billed
and California Gulls and as we came down the
straits a few Fork-tailed Petrels, Bonaparte's
Gulls, Phalecopes [Phalaropes] etc [etcetera]. A young of the year of
Long-tailed Jaeger without a tail, just before
we came to Seymour Narrows. Passing Campbell
River, a few common Terns. Beautiful sunset
off the latter place, out into the Gulf of
Georgia with full moon and flat sea going out
side of Taxada [Texada] Pt [Point].
