Clearwater Lakes Cabin July 14/43 [1943]
Yesterday evening saw 1 [male symbol] 2 [female symbol] 2 kids
+ 1 yearling. The billy apart from the
others. All were on the mountain
behind the cabin (north of here)
This morning the billy was still there
+ I climbed to within 10 yards of him as
he lay on the sidehill. He is all moulting
except for his hindquarters + lower
legs.
Food:- Feeding in order of frequency on
small purple vetchling
large whitish yellow vetch.
yellow Hedysarum or [illegible word]
large flowered crimson vetch
specimens of each taken - see press [?] of that
date.
Siffleur River July 15/43 [1943]
Saw 8 goat = 2 [female symbol] 2 kids 2 yearl. [yearlings] 2 ?
on the Mt [mountain] just E [east] of Clearwater Pass.
Saw goats on Mt [mountain] east of Siffleur
as follows:
1 [female symbol] 2 kids, 1 [female symbol] 1 kid + 7 others in same bunch
12 billys [billies] mostly alone, 1 group of 3.
sleeping in such peculiar positions
on a steep slide I thought they were
all dead.
Shot a large billy for examination
Measurements:- 1705, 130, 350 ear 118
shoulder height 200.
Moult. This + one other had old fur on
abdomen only. Another on abd. [abdomen] + hind quarters
