The Sitka specimens + Skidegate one
have central area heavily patterened
with many white stripes crossing the
animals + the lateral area virtually
unpatterned. Color various. Generally
with central area dark red - brown,
almost orange brown, a series of
white flecks along post [posterior] border of valve
2 + 3 of some spec. [specimens] In most extreme
these are on valves 1 - 7. Mucra
at ant. [anterior] 3rd, no protrusion, area
below mucro unpatterned. Angle
at mucro [illegible word].
The Okotsk sea specimens differ
in pattern. One is completely without
pattern, an even orange to pinkish buff
with shadow white zig-zag pattern
Another is pinkish, to carmine pink
with dark [triangle shape] tents apex foremost on valve
+ a varied pattern of white, somewhat
subdued over entire area of remaining
valves. The inside of one of these
is revealed + is pale pink
In summary the two lots are quite
diff. [different] in color pattern, but similar in
form. The Okotsk specimens are
