- Lac du Bois. Aug. [August] 21, 1948
Left Clinton at 9 AM + arrived
Kamloops at noon, road in fair
shape except for some bad areas
that were completely unmarked
A few rain showers in the morning
clearing in afternoon + pouring again
by night
At 4:30 we left + ran up to
Lac du Bois making camp at the
Entomological Field Station.
I put out 18 traps along the
lake shore near the cabin set
in the long grass below the small
birches.

looking better by evening.
Traps (18) took
2 Microtus p. [pennsylvanicus] drummondi
1 Sorex palustris navigator
1 Zapus h. [hudsonius] tenellus
2 Peromyscus m. [maniculatus] artemisiae
Skinned in AM [morning] + in P.M. [afternoon] went
for a walk down to the lake +
around its s. [south] end. There I took
a Microtus montanus canescens [underlined] by
hand from a nest beneath an old
lard pail. Found a number of
runways nearby + set traps in
