No sign of elk seen much above 6 mi [miles] up Redearth - No sign of wintering Moult:- most animals seen are now shed. Vermilion Crossing. June 23-43 [1943] On the way over from Banff in the 20 miles west of that town saw. 150 cows, 54 calves + 4 bulls. " June 24/43 [1943]. Today in 19 miles W. [yearling] [female symbol]'s 6 calves 13 [male symbol], 28 [female symbol]'s 8 calves It is noteworthy that here, unlike in Banff the large bulls (none of them very big - antlers 12'-18') are with the cows instead of separate from them.
