  • Sulphur Springs. Aug. [August] 13/45 [1945]. Rode up from corners in 2 3/4 hrs [hours]. Fine very hot day. In afternoon worked the adjacent gullies + hiked back to the summit between here + the Red Deer. Plenty of elk sign everywhere, including tracks of cows + calves on the trail just west of the boundary. Looking across river it looks as if a quick + easy route to the Dormer is readily accessible. Ride up first creek below camp into meadows, pass to head of meadows then swing west around base of grassy knoll + drop down to Dormer - perhaps 5 miles total distance Range here is in excellent condition + has improved since I was last here In places it has been heavily used but is standing up well. Game seen 1 moose 5 deer. Sulphur Springs Aug. [August] 14/45 [1945] Today rode to head of the creek that enters the Panther from immediately opposite our camp. Climbed hill to south + explored the length of it. Returned by way of creek entering Panther just below Sulphur Spring. This makes an excellent pass from the Dormer to the Panther. An old Indian trail follows
