I watched them for 20 minutes during
which both of them browsed willow
+ birch, apparently about 45% willow.
At the head of Willow Creek I today
saw trails made by at least
6 moose.
Kills:- Two adults, one a [male symbol], the
latter had been visited by bear
+ it is just possible that bear
made the kill. Burstrom however
reports that wolf sign was abundant
there earlier.

Saw 1 [female symbol] + 1 [female symbol] yearling (12 mos [months])
Census:- Based on total moose seen on this
area = 9 in relation to horses seen to known
gives the equation 18/30 = 9/x or 18x = 270 or x = 15
moose now on 18 to 20 sq. [square] miles.
Blue Creek. May 26/44 [1944]
Census:- Saw 5 [male symbol], 3 [female symbol] 1 yearl. [yearling] [female symbol] 1 newborn calf.
2 unidentified.
4 of the moose seen feeding high on
the burned slopes of the mt. [mountain] opposite
Food [underlined] camp. One cow was eating sedge for
10 minutes.
Accidents:- At 5 o'clock we saw a cow
with newborn calf. She later led
