Lac de Bois June 8,1941.
Shot a [female symbol] black bear - weight about 150-175
lbs. [pounds] and after killing it found it to have 3
cubs. 2 black and one brown.
[female symbol] brown - 7 1/2 lbs. [pounds]
[female symbol] black - 7 1/4 lbs. [pounds]
[male symbol] black - 6 3/4 lbs. [pounds]
Stomach of old [female symbol] contained 2 or 3 quarts of
vegetation and about a pint of ants and larvae.
Following her back trail I found where she
had climbed an aspen and tried to open a sap-
sucker nest in which there were young.
Stomachs of young contained ants and vegeta-
tion though parent was still milking slightly.
