Byng Pass. Aug. [August] 26/43 [1943]
Fair day with a few scattered showers
In morning shot a [female symbol] + kid goat out of
a flock of 7. Spent the rest of the
day preparing the specimens + examining
them for pathological conditions + parasites
Game seen:- 7 goat
5 caribou (probably 3 new)
Byng Pass. Aug 27/43 [1943]
Fair day with scattered light showers.
Worked around camp in morning. After
lunch Jim [Simpson] + I hiked north toward
Mt [Mount] Barra, climbed over the ridge
+ came back along the skyline.
We found 4 caribou standing in
the high wind at various places along
the ridge. Goat tracks present also.
We could have been down to the
upper end of Twintree Lake in 1/2 hour
as it was just below us. Into the
head flows a creek milky white or
blue in color. For the upper half of
its course this creek is clear but
about 1 mile above the lake it takes
a mineral spring of milky color that
doubles its volume.
