At 3 pm. doe in park feeding
along with buck, fawn hidden.
Doe much bothered by flies, fed
nervously with hair erect all over
her body, continuously stamped her
hind legs, often stood on 3 legs
+ jerked the other convulsively, Flicked
her tail + ears continuously. Went
down on fore knees + grazed for
30 sec. [seconds], moved a few yards + lay
down with her legs completely
under her + grazed within reach.
Buck appeared to take less
notice of the flies.
Quarantine Lake.
A doe in full summer
pelage had just begun to feed
at 7:30 PM. Another feeding in
open at 8 PM had a bit of
old hair on the flanks still.
Paid no attention to several
sheep. Doe saw me, stared
hard with ears turned in my
direction. Ran 50 yds [yards] + stopped, I
stalked to within 10 yards of her
by approaching behind trees. She
fed unconcernedly until I again
stepped into view. When she ran
10-15 yards + again stopped.
Proportions of sexes. 1 doe fawn at game farm.
