Deer were widely distributed particularly
on flat land with scattered spruce
clumps. But saw many right
among sheep herds when they
were feeding however deer made off
separately when alarmed.
Census 60 does [word crossed out] deer in 10 miles of prospective

Kills:- Examined 6 dead deer.
43 [divided symbol] 4 - 16 One 2 days dead had small, slit
like aperture 1/2 " [inch] long in throat this
had slit jugular + pierced trachea -
blood in trachea + lungs. 23 nose fly
larvae 20 3rd instar 2 second.
mouth full. Moderate ticks, no lice
no Lipoptena.
Mouth full of bearberry.
In 3 other cases deer very aged [female symbol]'s
Fo [crossed out] with teeth badly abraded other
2 not identifiable as to age + sex.
Food Stomach of kill: 50% Doug. fir [Douglas-fir] 50% bearberry
