25 Bowl
Qing dynasty; late 17th century
d. 10.5 cm; The Reid Collection
This bowl is fitted with bamboo-shaped
bronze rim, handles and three-legged base.
It is decorated with four alternating red
and yellow ponies galloping over waves.
The space in between them is filled with
crimped spirals and cloud-like motifs.
There is a red pony on the base of the
bowl. The colours include: red, white,
yellow, cobalt blue, lavender, mixed yellow-
green, and dark green on a turquoise-blue
ground.

This paperweight of rectangular shape is
decorated with several different flower blos-
soms on a cracked-ice pattern. There is a
gilded dragon on top with foliated tail and
pronounced claws. The colours include:
red, white, yellow, violet, and cobalt blue,
on a turquoise-blue ground.
27 Belt Buckle
Qing dynasty; 18th century

The gilded rim of this belt buckle has a
floral pattern, a lion mask, and a bat, the
symbol of happiness. The cloisonne panels
have dark blue flowers on a turquoise-blue
ground.
