- the course of a small stream and one along the ditch by the roadside. May 6 [1931]. coon [raccoon] traps yielded nothing probably because of the wet night. Mouse traps in meadow held one microtus tetramerous + 3 Shrews. The Microtus tetramerous had runways through the sphagnum moss of a small boggy meadow, and appeared to be feeding on a small rush that grew in clumps in the meadow. The runways occasionally entered a small stream and the deeper tunnels were full of water. Followed trail out to Garrard's [also Garrod and Mackenzie] beach, wonderful stretch of sand. Took. 6 semipalmated plover from a flock of 30 with a small [word crossed out] large flock of Sandpipers. 1 Sanderling with a small bunch of plover. Saw a flock of Band tailed [underlined] Pigeons [underlined] - very wild 2 flocks of red [word inserted later] crossbills [underlined] seen.
